At Prompt Proofing we took a break from blogging over the holiday weeks to enjoy the celebrations and we hope all of you took the opportunity to do the same.

Now that 2012 has arrived, our weekly blog posts will take on more of a structure.

Each month we will post the following:

Week 1 - Grammar/spelling tips

Week 2 - Marketing tips

Week 3 - Writing tips

Week 4 - Book review

And on the odd occasion there is a week 5, that will be reserved for something random that takes our fancy!

We've had requests from blog readers to post book reviews as something different. We are obviously avid readers and look forward to making recommendations for worthwhile reading material. Sometimes it will be fiction and sometimes non-fiction, such as the book review we wrote on Cameron Herold's marketing book last October.

So, in keeping with this new schedule, our first post is distinctly grammar- and spelling-related.

Perhaps you have seen this link floating around the social media world? It certainly is a wonderful example of the confusions of the English language. We have discussed homophones in the past and this poem is full of them!

For something fun to do to test your English pronunciation skills (trust me, this poem is not only for people whose second language is English, but will actually challenge native speakers also!), try reading this poem aloud!

As the website states, "After trying the verses, a Frenchman said he'd prefer six months of hard labour to reading six lines aloud."
