Mamre Marsh Wilson Celebrates an Enduring Career as an Artist and a Local Historian
Mamre Wilson was named "Historian of the Year" in 2004 by the State of North Carolina

BEAUFORT, NC, August 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mamre M. Wilson, Owner of The Studio, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in historical research.

Sustained by her twin passions for historical research and fine art, Ms. Wilson has carved an enduring career as an artist, an author and a local historian. Four years ago, she opened The Studio, a sole proprietorship through which she conducts research and sells her paintings and books. Ms. Wilson is a respected authority on the history of Beaufort, N.C. in particular, and has published two books through local history book specialists Arcadia Publishing and The History Press. She has also gained a following as a fine artist with her oar art, note cards and lighthouse pieces. Last year, she was named a Professional of the Year in Fine Art by Cambridge Who's Who.

A fixture in community affairs, Ms. Wilson serves as a historiographer for the Diocese of East Carolina. She is former chairman of the Beaufort Historic Preservation Commission and a former board member of National Episcopal Historians and Archivists, to which she maintains memberships. She is also affiliated with the Beaufort Historical Association and functions as a chief judge for one of the precincts in a town elections office. Declared "Historian of the Year" by the State of North Carolina in 2004, Ms. Wilson attributes her success to her passion for art and history, her zest for life, and her faith in God.

Ms. Wilson received a bachelor's degree in education, with a concentration in ministerial studies, in 1985 from Sewanee: The University of the South and an associate degree in 1953 from Centenary Junior College for Women (now Centenary College).
