Cal Sheets was originally founded in 2000 when three competitive independent sheet feeders convinced Joe Escobar to come on board and start up a collaborative effort.

CARLSBAD, CA, December 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cal Sheets was originally founded in 2000 when three competitive independent sheet feeders convinced Joe Escobar to come on board and start up a collaborative effort.

It's not always easy to get competition to buy into a market rival's operations, but Pacific Southwest Container, Packaging Innovators and Heritage Paper all saw merit in Escobar's vision of a state-of-the-art manufacturing processing.

"They're all independent sheet plants in Northern California that compete directly with one another, but they saw a unique opportunity to collectively join forces and start this investment together," Cal Sheets President and CEO Scott Sherman says.

Since then, Escobar has sold his share in the company to Robert Mann Packaging, while a fifth partner in Capital Corrugated has come on board.
