Charles V. Mauro Honored for Excellence in Historical Research and Writing
Mr. Mauro's first book, "The Battle of Chantilly (Ox Hill): A Monumental Storm," won the Nan Netherton Award
HERNDON, VA, November 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Charles V. Mauro, Treasurer of HMS Productions, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in historical research and writing.
For the past two decades, Mr. Mauro has exceled in performing historical research and writing books and movie scripts based on his findings. He serves as the treasurer of HMS Productions, Inc., a production company that specializes in historical films and documentaries. His career entails managing production and marketing in addition to writing books and movie scripts. In recognition of his work, Mr. Mauro was recognized as a VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who in 2010. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional goals. Mr. Mauro attributes his success to his interest and curiousity of the Civil War; his area of expertise is American Civil War history.
Mr. Mauro is the author of five books, the first of which, "The Battle of Chantilly (Ox Hill): A Monumental Storm," won the Nan Netherton Award. His most recent published book is entitled "A Southern Spy in Northern Virginia: The Civil War Album of Laura Ratcliffe." This book documents the covert support that one woman provided to Confederate officers and soldiers during the war. Mr. Mauro has also written and produced two historical films; the first, a docudrama, is an adaptation of "The Battle of Chantilly (Ox Hill): A Monumental Storm." The second is a documentary on Confederate Colonel John Singleton Mosby's raids in Northern Virginia during the Civil War entitled, "Mosby's Combat Operations in Fairfax County, Virginia." Both of these films have won multiple awards.
In 1982, Mr. Mauro earned an MBA in information systems management from Temple University. He previously earned a Bachelor of Science in information systems management from the University of Maryland. Mr. Mauro is affiliated with the Bull Run Civil War Round Table and the Stuart Mosby Historical Society. He is also a former president of the Herndon Historical Society and the Manassas Warrenton Camera Club. Looking toward the future, Mr. Mauro plans to continue in his current line of work in the years to come.
